OPENINGS: 5/15, 5/16/ & 5/17

Graduation weekend! Horay, I'm done. Shit...now I need a job. Anyone need their own personal crawling guide? Didn't think so. Well, we'll see how it goes. For right now I'm enjoying having the fam 'n friends in town. Friday is the time for adventures this week, all my best West Loop buddies are open (Warren, Packer, Three Walls, etc.), so that's where I'll be. See ya'll out there. 33 Collective - 1029 W. 35th. Fifth Annual National Self-Portrait Exhibition, Juried show of 50 self-portraits. Reception 5/15, 7-10 PM. 5/15-6/11.

East Bank Artist Studios - East Bank Storage, 1200 W 35th St, at S Racine Ave. Art Walk 2009, Julian Williams and Fred Camper are among the resident artists opening their studios to the public at this annual Bridgeport event. 6pm–10pm, Sat noon–6pm.

HYDE PARK -
University of Chicago, Gordon Center for Integrative Science - 3rd floor atrium, 929 E 57th St. Science in Art: The Drawings of Vesna Jovanovic. The drawings on exhibit were made by using pareidolia (the psychological phenomenon of conjured recognition) to manipulate random patterns in spilled ink. Also included are drawings created by digitally combining scanned X-Rays, MRI scans, and other medical films, which were printed, then altered via ink and graphite. The exhibit will take place in a venue that is usually devoted exclusively to science. This is one in an ongoing series of exhibits titled "Science in Art", organized by graduate students at the University of Chicago in order to bridge the cultural gap between the two fields. Betty Rymer Gallery - 280 S. Columbus Drive School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Preview SAIC's exhibition "The Art of Connection," which showcases artwork by graduate Art Therapy students and the people they work with at their internships. Artwork in the show reflects the varied settings, populations, and practices of art therapy, and represents the culmination of SAIC's Master of Arts in Art Therapy program. Friday, May 15, 7-9pm
